Give Your Full Potential

In the name of God, most Gracious, most Compassionate

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,

“Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Ramadan, a month filled with a spiritual high that no other month brings about. We spend 11 months of the year longing to live to see another Ramadan and to bask in the vibes that it brings forth. We crave the bonds we build upon with our families and friends; from the daily dinners to break our fasts to heading to taraweeh (night) prayers to the late night family and friends’ gatherings. We crave the spiritual habits we adopt; from the abstaining of distractions to the increased prayers and reading of the Quran to the late night prayers where you ask of Allah (SWT) knowing He (SWT) is always listening.

But, there have been times where we have felt that we have not been able to give our full potential in making each Ramadan the best Ramadan for us. So how do we prepare in order to feel that spirituality we long for and to get the most out of this beautiful and blessed holy month?

  • Prepare for Ramadan before

Make a schedule for yourself or set goals for what you plan to do this Ramadan In’Shaa’Allah. The better prepared you are, the more confident you will be and making the most out of Ramadan. If you do fall behind, know that you can still have the power to continue and to make the most out of what remains of this blessed month.

  • Make the most out of it in terms of getting closer to Allah (SWT)

Dedicate times of the day to talk to Allah (SWT), to ask for His forgiveness and guidance. Pray voluntary prayers and pour your heart onto the prayer mat. Increase in actions beloved to Allah (SWT) and know that in this month, every deed is multiplied. Especially in the last 10 days of Ramadan.

  • Give and Volunteer

This is one of the greatest times to give charity and to volunteer your time. So, help to feed those in need or volunteer with local organizations to give back to your community.

May Allah (SWT) bless us with the opportunity to live to see another Ramadan. May this Ramadan heal our brokenness and fill our hearts with light. May this Ramadan fill the emptiness within us with the spirituality it begs for. May Allah (SWT) allow this to be our best Ramadan and to accept all our deeds in this holy month.
